Nothing goes with reading quite like hot drinks. And a hot yummy drink that is good for you too? Yes, please! This is my new favourite drink to curl up with while reading a book on a cold winter’s night. π
Superfood Hot Cocoa
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1-2 tablespoons cocoa or raw cacao powder
rounded 1/2 teaspoon of matcha
1 and 3/4 cup of milk or your favourite milk alternative
1/2 teaspoon maca powder
1/2 – 2 tablespoons maple syrup
several shakes of cinnamon
pinch of cayenne pepper
pinch of pepper
dash of salt
Directions:
Melt coconut oil in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk in turmeric and cocoa powder, bring to a slight simmer. Whisk in matcha. Add milk or milk alternative. Bring to a low simmer, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and whisk in remaining ingredients. If you want it really frothy, pour into a blender and mix for 5-10 seconds.
